Trading Standards Warn of Mobile Phone Chargers Hazard
&Bull; The pins of the jam being poorly positioned allowing a user's get away to touch a live pin when the charger is being removed from an electrical mains socket.The chargers are all generic products which are not made, approved or distributed by the plastic phone firms whose products they fit.
County Councilor Albert Atkinson, Bureau member for community, planning and partnerships, said: "I'm amazed to see how many of these chargers have proved to be potentially rickety.
"If people have bought them they should stop using them without delay. Any retailers who have them in stock should ensure that they are removed from sale and consumer returns refunded."
The chargers tested were on transaction marked down in market stalls and mobile phone accessory shops in Preston, Lancaster, St Anne's, Chorley and Burnley, priced between &thump;7 and £15. They are of a similar basic design with differing label names.
