"Much like a navigation system in a car, this information ultimately increases efficaciousness. When playing golf, increased efficiency equates to faster place and, in many cases, lower scores."
When in use on a course, handheld units -- like immobile, cart-mounted GPS panels -- relay positioning and yardage via hanger-on. Companies have programmed in thousands of courses with key word regarding fairways, greens, hazards and yardages.
"With the leave of 23,000-plus courses, SkyGolf maps every ambit from the ground using survey-grade GPS materiel, with sub-meter accuracy, to provide the most reliable space information in the game," said Julie Davis, defect president of marketing for the company that makes several SkyCaddie handhelds.
